Dr. Schuman has served on the faculty at VanderCook College of Music since 2001.  During that time, she has built and maintained a strong, supportive undergraduate and masters level trumpet studio while maintaining an active career as a performer.  Recent highlights include a solo/trio performance on historic cornets with Chicago Symphony Orchestra trumpeter, John Hagstrom, a live WFMT broadcast of the chamber music of Leonard Bernstein, and numerous school clinics, masterclasses, and solo performances.  Since 2018, she has also served as Executive Director of VanderCook's One City program, which provides high quality instruments and music instruction to children from underserved communities.
